Anchor Christmas Ale

Anchor

ABV: 5.5% | IBU: –

anchor_xmas_bomberEvery year this beer is different, but at the same time, familiar. When customers ask how it tastes I know every year I can say “like Christmas morning.”  Imagine you could shove everything involved with Christmas: the tree, the presents, the food and the overall feeling into a bottle and Anchor Christmas is what you would get. The appearance is very dark with a beige head that quickly disperses. Earthy mushroom wildness with peppermint and peach fruit on the nose. Spice is present in the flavor, along with roasted malts, coffee and dark coco. Lightly piney, I’m guessing from some sort of evergreen type tree than hops. Bitterness is there but just enough to balance all the flavors. The finish is dry. Apricot notes and rhubarb tartness. Pairs well with traditional holiday fare: ham, turkey, even prime rib. Always a seasonal favorite and one of the coolest winter brews around — no pun intended.
