5 great under-the-radar beer cities

Of course Asheville, but… Charlotte, North Carolina

In the past few years, Asheville has climbed the ranks as one of, if not the, top beer cities in the nation. However, beer travelers would do well to make Charlotte, North Carolina, their vacation destination.

Nicknamed the Queen City after George III’s wife Queen Charlotte, the city is home to over a dozen breweries (with more under construction), including NoDa Brewing, which took home a gold medal at the 2014 World Beer Cup for the highly coveted category, American-style IPA. Plus, as the largest city in the state, Charlotte also has the goods when it comes to food, sports, arts and culture, and nightlife.
