5 great under-the-radar beer cities

Of course Denver, but… Colorado Springs, Colorado

Denver is a household name in craft beer, with its 60 metro area breweries and designation as host of two of the most prestigious annual beer competitions in the United States, but there’s a whole other world of craft beer just an hour south in Colorado Springs.

Phantom Canyon Brewing was the first brewery in Colorado Springs when it opened in 1993. Since then, the scene has expanded to over 20 breweries, including Trinity Brewing and Bristol Brewing, which have five and 13 GABF awards to their names, respectively. And don’t forget about Colorado Springs’ ample opportunities to get active outside, including Pike’s Peak, the easternmost 14er in the Rocky Mountains.
