Dallas–Forth Worth (DFW)
Lakewood Brewing and Community Beer Co. are two breweries creating a lot of buzz around the Dallas metro area, and bars like Craft and Growler and Strangeways are comfortable watering holes for craft beer fans. If you’re staying in the Fort Worth area, Martin House Brewing is known for its strong ales, and The Bearded Lady has 30 taps and 200 bottles and cans.
If you’re on a mission for Texas barbecue, there’s no better place to start than Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum, just outside downtown Dallas. In the mood for tacos? Tacos La Banqueta Puro DF is a favorite and has locations in both Dallas and Fort Worth. And the moderately priced new American cuisine at Neighborhood Services has been turning heads.
Klyde Warren Park, in Dallas’ Arts District, has a botanical garden, a children’s park, fitness areas, ping pong tables, and croquet. From the park, it’s an easy walk to the Perot Museum of History and Science, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Nasher Sculpture Center. After dark, head to The Prophet Bar or Dada Dallas—both popular live music joints in downtown Dallas.
