Concerned citizens, fear not: we’ve compiled a list of alternatives to throwing elbows in a department-store-turned-hotbed-of-anarchy during the wee hours of the morning this Black Friday. Sleep in, avoid the consumerism-fueled chaos, and have a beer while you’re at it! This list is just a taste of the beer releases happening across the state this Friday.

Fitger’s Brewhouse Barrel Aged Dark Days (B.A.D.D.) Limited Bottle Release

November 27 | 10am 

You’ve heard of Black Friday, but have you heard of Dark Wednesday? We may be getting ahead of ourselves here, but Fitger’s Brewhouse marking the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with their B.A.D.D. Bottle Release. This Russian imperial stout is brewed with chocolate rye malt and aged in a combination of local Panther Distillery bourbon barrels and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Learn more…

Urban Growler Black Wednesday & Friday Beer Releases

November 27 & 29 | 11:30am–11pm

Another ‘Dark Wednesday’ concept, Urban Growler is releasing the third annual Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter in bottles (limited quantities!) this Dark Wednesday. Barrel Aged Drop Forge Milk Stout release at Pantown Brewing

November 29 | 10am–10pm

St. Cloud’s Pantown is releasing it’s very first batch of Drop Forge Milk Stout it ever brewed on Black Friday. This batch was tucked away in a barrel, according to the brewery, and was transferred into 100 bottles that will be sold in the taproom starting at 10am. Limit 1 bottle per person. Learn more… 

Big Stout Beer Invasion: Black Friday at Rock Elm Tavern

November 29 | 11am–11pm

For those hangin’ around the northwest suburbs, stouts will be invading the tap lines at Rock Elm Tavern locations this Black Friday. Head to Maple Grove or Plymouth to grab a pint or a flight of three. 

Bourbon County Black Friday

November 29 | 11am–various times

Goose Island’s 2019 Bourbon County Black Stout is coming to bars and liquor stores this Black Friday. Buy a bottle at South Lyndale Liquors, Robbinsdale Wine and Spirits, or St. Anthony Village Wine and Spirits—or, satisfy yourself with a hefty pour at New Bohemia in Golden Valley, Republic, Groveland Tap, Stanley’s, Grizzly’s, Lucy’s Burgers, Lino Lake, or JRs Outpost in Anoka. 

#OptOutside Ride with OOOBS

November 29 | 11am–5pm 

One on One Bicycle Studio is closing its doors this Black Friday in favor of a “ramble ride” that leaves from the shop at 11am. Black Friday Special Bottle Releases at Wild Mind Artisan Ales

November 29 | 11am–11pm

Wild Mind is opening early at 11am and Qué Tal Street Eats will be serving up some brunch, which includes a token for a free pint. But the main attraction are three bottle releases (no limits, $18 per bottle): Into Oblivion, an imperial stout aged in Four Roses Single Barrel select barrels on toasted coconut, Madagascar vanilla beans, and coconut; The Great Decay, a traditional English-style barleywine aged in Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon barrels; and From the Abstract, an imperial rye stout aged in Willett Distillery rye whiskey barrels and conditioned on Ecuadorian cocoa nibs, Indonesian cinnamon sticks, and fresh, coarse-ground coffee from Up Coffee Roasters. St. Paul’s Tin Whiskers has a decadent release on hand for Black Friday in its Bananas Foster Imperial Stout. Alloy Brewing is celebrating Black Friday in Coon Rapids with two limited beer releases that are only available on tap in the taproom. The first is available right at noon: Cherry Cherry Earthshake Milkshake IPA, an 8.4% ABV milkshake IPA with “cherries galore,” says the brewery.
