Until now, Boom Island Brewing has mostly stuck to faithful representations of classic Belgian beers. In 2017, they’ll veer off the beaten path.
Boom Island has announced the kick-off of their Breaking Boundaries Series—four single-batch beers (only 12 barrels each, and one per quarter), each a riff on a classic Belgian brew. The label art for the new series is from local illustrator Shawn McCann.
The first beer, Dry Hopped Belgian Golden Strong, will be released on Friday, January 27, in corked-and-caged 750ml bottles and 1/6 barrel kegs. It’s a centuries-old classic Belgian Golden Strong recipe, that’s dry-hopped with New Zealand-grown Wai-iti hops.
Only 50 cases will be available, 10 to be sold in the taproom the evening of the 27th, when pours of the Dry Hopped Belgian Golden Strong will begin at 4pm. Shawn McCann will be on hand to sign posters of the first label design of the series throughout the evening. Select liquor stores will receive the remaining bottles the week of January 30th.
The three beers to follow later in 2017:
Oak-Aged Belgian Double Pale Ale “Bolleke Plus”
Black Currant Imperial Wheat Wine
Quadrupel Hopped Belgian Quad “Well Balanced”
