Chef Erick Harcey of Upton 43 is opening a new restaurant in South Minneapolis

South Minneapolis residents still toasting the news that Venn Brewing Company is opening a neighborhood taproom on the corner of 46th and Hiawatha have even more to celebrate today.

James Beard-nominated chef and owner of Victory 44, The Dirty Bird, and Upton 43, Erick Harcey, is planning on opening a new, yet-to-be-named restaurant in The CAPP building, a mixed-use project near 46th and Hiawatha.

The development is slated to include approximately 150 apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail space. Oppidan Investment Company “began neighborhood engagement for the development on 46th and Hiawatha in the fall of 2016, and is seeking city approval so construction can begin in 2018,” according to a press release announcing the restaurant partnership.

Though few immediate details about the restaurant were included in the release, chef Harcey has shown range in previous restaurant projects and our expectation is that the new restaurant will be a welcomed amenity to the citizens of South Minneapolis whenever it opens to the public.
