‘Meet The Growler’ at The Summer Beer Dabbler
12:30PM: DWITT
A veteran of the comic book, rock poster, gallery, bookstore, and even gaming worlds, DWITT might just be the most ubiquitous artist whose name you’ve never learned… until now. He also happens to be the talented artist behind all the cover art for The Growler and many promotional pieces for The Beer Dabbler events.
1:30PM: Easy & Oskey
Erik “Easy” Eastman and Dan Oskey recently released a Make Your Own Bitters Kit for cocktail enthusiasts through their newly formed company, Easy and Oskey. Both Oskey, the bartender at The Strip Club, and Eastman are beer lovers and both understand the art and science of flavors in alcoholic beverages. They wrote us a cocktail recipe that you’ll be able to read in the next issue of The Growler, which will hit shelves in early August.
2:30PM: Dinner on The Farm
Monica Walch, owner and organizer of Dinner on the Farm, will be here to talk to you about local food, local farms, and local beer. Dinner On The Farm creates unique events that celebrate and support local farms. The point is to connect people to where their food comes from, the people who grow and nurture it and the chefs and restaurants that support the local food system.
3:30PM: Doug Hoverson
Doug Hoverson, author of Land of Amber Waters, the History of Brewing in Minnesota, will teach festival goers about the history of prohibition in St. Paul. Hoverson will also touch on the pre-prohibition brewing scene in Minnesota and the impact that our 18th amendment had on the local industry.
Doug teaches social studies and coaches the debate team at St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. He is associate editor of American Breweriana Journal, an award-winning homebrewer, and a certified beer judge.
4:30PM: John Garland
John Garland is a freelance writer living in the East Isles neighborhood of Minneapolis. His area of expertise is wine – thanks to schooling from the International Sommelier Guild and more than a few winery visits during his time at the American University of Rome. John is always available for writing opportunities and happy hours. As a contributor to The Growler, John’s focus has been the relationship between food and beer.
The Summer Beer Dabbler — in its 5th year — is moving to an exciting new site on St. Paul’s Downtown Riverfront. Upper Landing Park is across the river from Harriet Island and a short walk from the Xcel Energy Center and West 7th. Take in the view of the St. Paul skyline, Harriet Island and the beautiful Mississippi River while sipping your favorite brews in sunny St. Paul.
What: Craft beer sampling from more than 65 local, regional and national breweries, gourmet food trucks, live music and many more surprises to be announced. Also on tap, the official festival kick-off with tapping the inaugural Oak Barrel brew – this year’s beer is to be a special release from Flat Earth Brewery, winner of the Lord Dabbler’s Cup.
In addition to all the great beer and an exciting new space by the river, The Summer Beer Dabbler will also feature great live entertainment from DJ Justin “Rambo” Salinas, The Cactus Blossoms, Crimes (MN), and Strange Names!
We’re proud to welcome some of Minnesota’s finest mobile food to The #SummerDabbler.
