Neighbors United Funding Collaborative at Black Hart with Summit Brewing Company
July 31 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The Black Hart of Saint Paul and Summit Brewing Company are proud to announce they are joining together to support the Hamline-Midway and Union Park communities and will launch an initiative on July 31 with a festive party at Black Hart from 5–7 p.m. For every Summit beer poured at Black Hart through December 2019, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the newly formed Neighbors United Funding Collaborative (https://www.unionparkdc.org/neighbors-united-funding-collaborative).
The Black Hart in its former iteration of Townhouse Bar was a staple of the Saint Paul community and owner Wes Burdine intends to keep it this way. “When I bought this bar I envisioned this as a neighborhood space, in addition to all it has to offer. And what a great opportunity to give back to the community where I and so many of my employees and regulars of the bar live and work.”
The Black Hart and Allianz Field are mere steps from where Summit Brewing began 33 years ago at its original brewery on University Avenue and where they tapped their first keg at a Midway neighborhood establishment. “When we sold our first beer in the Midway we could not begin to imagine how the neighborhood would grow,” said Summit owner Mark Stutrud. “It’s amazing to see the change and are happy to support the community that gave us our start.”
The Neighbors United Funding Collaborative is being launched this month as a result of St. Paul City Council passing Resolution 15-1407 which created a task force to explore the creation of community benefits to support neighborhoods adjacent to the Snelling-Midway Redevelopment site. The group has been formed to help ensure that new changes and development in Hamline-Midway and Union Park will be equitable and positive for all. Black Hart and Summit are happy to be the first companies to announce their financial support of the NUFC by donating a portion of all Summit draft sales.
