For 20 years, Founders Brewing Company has been rooted in Grand Rapids, Michigan. But now, the brewery plans to extend beyond its roots by opening a second taproom in the Motor City.

The new 14,000-square-foot facility will feature a fully operational brewery and taproom located in the lower Cass Corridor neighborhood in Midtown Detroit, just north of downtown, according to a press release. The menu will include food, beers brewed and available only onsite at the new facility, in addition to Founders’ core lineup.

“Some of our strongest support has come from the east side of Michigan, and we could not think of a better place to expand our taproom experience,” says Mark Dorich, Founders’ vice president of retail operations. “We anticipate creating a taproom that is inspired by what we do in Grand Rapids, but unique in its own Motown way. We’re excited to be a larger part of ‘the D’!”

Look for construction on Founders part deux to begin this summer with a projected opening of winter 2017.
