Y is for… Youngbucks
Another noticeable trend in craft beer—and at the GABF—is the increasingly young audience of craft beer. It seems even college kids have weened off of the traditional keg of Busch Light at their fraternal gatherings. According to a 2011 study by the Harris Poll, 37% of Millennials—loosely defined as those coming of age after 2000—say beer is their drink of choice. Our suspicion is that those numbers have trended even younger in the past couple of years. At the GABF it was obvious that beer is no longer just your dad’s beverage of choice. From baby-faced brewers to Saturday’s amateur hour, youngbucks abounded.
