Boom Island Brewing Company announced a new taproom concert series today: Boom Room Jazz.

The series is a way to support the arts and bring music to the brewery’s North Minneapolis neighborhood, the press release said. “The music will appeal to jazz aficionados as well as anyone new to the genre. There is no need to wear a striped shirt or don a beret; this series is a celebration of great music and local Belgian-style beer, all brought together by Boom Island Brewing.”

The Boom Room Jazz series will feature free jazz concerts by local jazz musicians at “The Boom Room” (the nickname for the Boom Island Brewing taproom) the last Saturday of the month from 7-8:30pm.

The featured jazz musicians will rotate and will be announced on Boom Island’s social media sites as well as their website. An exclusive taproom-only beer will accompany each performance, and will also be announced prior to each Boom Room Jazz event.

The first concert in the Boom Room Jazz series will be on Saturday, March 26, and will feature jazz trombonist Brad Bellows. Bellows is known for his work with the ensemble Locally Damaging Winds and first performed at Boom Island Brewing at the recent release of Boom Island’s newest year-round beer, Django Hop Bier.
