Indie folk band, Bon Iver, has won Grammy Awards, collaborated with Kanye West, thrown multi-day music festivals, and just released their third studio album, “22, A Million,” on September 30.

And in just a few short days, the founder and frontman behind the group, Justin Vernon, will be able to say that he helped open a new boutique hotel and restaurant in downtown Eau Claire, Wisconsin: The Oxbow Hotel and The Lakely.

In 2013, a core collective of collaborators came together to breathe a fresh presence into a rundown 1947 hotel in the city’s downtown scene.

Enter Volume One’s Nick Meyer, Eau Claire Regional Arts Center’s executive director Ben Richgruber, JAMF Software’s founder and CEO Zach Halmstad, and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.

This week, you can help celebrate the modern hotel, restaurant, and entertainment venue that’s “reflective of the spirit of Eau Claire.” At 4pm on Thursday, the official kickoff and ribbon cutting ceremony will initiate the grand opening weekend. There will be live jazz, hors d’oeuvres, and champagne, as well as a chance to tour the establishment. The festivities continue all weekend with a Friday night creative collaborator reception, a Saturday morning yoga session, Saturday evening artist reception, and a jazzy Sunday morning brunch performance.

According to their website, it’s a “sort of ‘modern lodge’ vibe,” with handcrafted and repurposed wood furniture from Eau Claire trees, lighting design by Michael Brown, creative director of the Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, and hand-painted lake-depth maps on some of the hotel’s walls, the establishment’s 30-room accommodations will be located in two buildings: The Main House, the 1940s-era brick-and-steel space, and The Flats, a mid-century motel-style structure.

As for The Lakely, the trifecta restaurant, bar, and event venue will feature a locally-sourced, seasonal menu created by Chef Nathan Berg, serving “casual Midwest modern comfort.” Behind the bar, there will be plenty of crafted cocktails and local beers, while you enjoy live music or the courtyard patio with fire pits and yard games.
