Teddy or not, Vikings fans are prepping for the season opener at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Green Bay Packers on September 18, and so is one local brewpub.
Day Block Brewing, just minutes away from the new stadium, has something extra special on tap to stoke the rivalry between all the Vikings and Packers fans that will undoubtedly fill the taproom opening weekend—a “fruity, floral” mosaic pale ale brewed in collaboration with Menomonie, Wisconsin–based Lucette Brewing.
Lucette’s head brewer, Christian Thompson, was on hand at Day Block’s brewhouse in late August to brew the first of two batches of the rivalry beer with Day Block’s brewing team. The beer will be released at an outdoor block party on September 17 at the brewpub.
In November, Day Block’s brewers will head to Menomonie to brew the same beer at Lucette’s facility, which will be released ahead of the Vikings-Packers rematch at Lambeau Field on Christmas Eve.
