Iran sanctions lifted; should U.S. pistachio growers be worried?

Until about 30 years ago, most pistachios found in the United States were from Iran. The American pistachio industry never really boomed until an embargo was put in place after the Iran hostage crisis.

Now, with economic sanctions on Tehran lifted and Iranian pistachios once again available to US retailers, should domestic growers be concerned? Valley Public Radio reports on the sanctions, tariffs, growing conditions, and state of international business that’s made this commodity’s trade, well, a little nuts.
