If you think you’ll be ready for a drink when the current presidential election is finally over, imagine if you shared a last name with one of the two major party candidates. For the 300-some-odd people in Minnesota who fit that bill, Visit Saint Paul, the city’s official tourism board, is partnering with 16 St. Paul bars, restaurants, and breweries to pick up the tab for their first drink on Election Day, Nov. 8
People who can prove their last name is either Trump or Clinton via passport or government-issued ID can enjoy one free drink at the following locations: Bennett’s Chop & Rail House, Burger Moe’s, Café Latte, Camp Bar, Great Waters Brewing Company, Handsome Hog, Kincaid’s, The Liffey, Luci Ancora, Ox Cart Ale House, Pazzaluna, Public Kitchen + Bar, St. Paul Grill, The Spot Bar, Tin Whiskers Brewing, and Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub (see a map of participating locations here).
“The election has been wearing on the American public and I assume especially those people with the same last name of Trump and Clinton,” Sean O’Byrne, owner of Great Waters Brewing Company, said in a press release. “The least we could do to celebrate the close of the election is to reward them with a free drink.”
The free drink offer includes soda, beer, wine, and spirits and is available one per ID, per location during business hours of the establishment on Nov. 8, 2016.
