Santa came early in the form of the New Belgium Beer Fairy today. Due out in early January are two new year-round beers from the Fort Collins, Colorado, brewery.
Citradelic Tangerine IPA is a fruity, citrusy 6% ABV IPA brewed with tangerines and citra hops. It’s intensely aromatic and the fruit character comes through clearly without overpowering the beer. Citradelic will be released in 12 oz. bottles and on draft.
Glütiny Pale Ale is a 6% ABV gluten-reduced pale ale brewed with cascade, chinook, crystal, and equinox hops. In developing the recipe, New Belgium experimented with gluten-free grains like quinoa, millet, sorghum, and rice, but ultimately weren’t satisfied with the finished products. They opted instead to brew the beer with malted barley and add an enzyme during the brewing process that removes much of the gluten from the beer. Both the pale ale and Glütiny Golden Ale will be available year-round in 12 oz. bottles but will not be released in draft form. More about New Belgium’s gluten-reduced brewing process.
