New Glarus Brewing to start canning beers this summer

Summer drinking just got a little better—if you’re from Wisconsin, that is.

New Glarus Brewing Company, the nation’s 20th largest craft brewery, announced that it will begin packaging and selling its beers in cans starting this summer. Of course, as many craft beer drinkers know, New Glarus’ beer is only distributed in its homestate of Wisconsin.

According to a report by, brewery owner Deb Carey confirmed that Moon Man Pale Ale will be the first beer to appear in cans, followed shortly by the brewery’s flagship, Spotted Cow.

“We’re really trying to take care of our consumers and we’ve had a lot of requests from people, who are campers and boaters and out on golf courses, that they would like this environmentally friendly package,” said Carey. “It’s a lot lighter, it’s cost-effective and I think this generation is used to drinking things out of cans, so we’re really excited about it.”
