According to an article in the St. Cloud Times, a new homebrew supply store called The Hop Shop will be opening in St. Cloud’s Midtown Square Mall. In a blog post on The Hop Shop’s website, the couple behind the store, Desi and Lori Hall, say they’ve signed a lease and hope to have the store open by the holidays.

Both Desi and Lori are former employees of the Old Capitol Tavern in Sauk Rapids and Lori currently works as a sales representative in the area for Artisan Beer Company.

“Our lives have become very intertwined with the brewing, tasting, selling, and drinking of beer, and we have discovered a love for this industry that we want to share with everyone,” Lori says in the blog post.

Officially signed the lease and the buildout has begun!! Had a family meeting to decide on floors and paint.

In the St. Cloud Times article, Desi says the local homebrew community was dealt a blow when the area’s sole homebrew supply store, Minco Technology & Hobby Center, closed several years ago. He’s hoping to fill that void with The Hop Shop.

Plans for the store include supplies and ingredients for making beer, wine, cider, mead, and soda, as well as glassware and growlers. The Halls hope to eventually begin hosting classes to introduce new homebrewers to the hobby.
