A lack of snow in Duluth means the 32nd John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon will start outside Two Harbors for the second year in a row, reports the Star Tribune.
The race up the North Shore of Lake Superior and back will begin Sunday, January 31, from a gravel pit near Highway 2, just north of Two Harbors, and will be extended to Grand Portage in order to maintain its 383-mile length.
It is still expected to finish at Billy’s Bar in Duluth around Wednesday, February 3.
