Beer drinkers in Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota are about to get a little more Surly (or a little less surly, depending on capitalization).
After recent expansions into Chicago, Iowa, and Wisconsin, Surly Brewing Company will begin distributing its beer to bars, restaurants, and liquor stores in the three new states beginning May 2016.
“We have been talking to Surly fans in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska for 10 years now, and every day we receive messages from them asking when we’re coming to their cities,” said Omar Ansari, founder and president of Surly Brewing. “Finally, we’re now able to pay them all back for their awesome support and patience by getting our beer onto their shelves and taps.”
Surly beer is expected to available in the new markets beginning Monday, May 2. The exact locations are still being determined and will be posted on Surly’s website once they’re available. To start, Furious, Hell, and Overrated! will be featured on draft in bars and restaurants. An assortment of cans, including Bender, Coffee Bender, Furious, Hell, Cynic, Todd The Axe Man, and Overrated! will be available at liquor stores.
As part of its introduction into the new markets, Surly will be hosting events, tastings, and Surly Gives A Damn community projects across all three states.
Johnson Brothers, Surly’s existing distributor, will handle the beer in North Dakota, Nebraska, and parts of South Dakota, with the rest of South Dakota being handled by Global Distributing.
