A new restaurant focusing on locally sourced and organic ingredients will open this Saturday, December 5, in the Food Building at 1401 Marshall Street NE. The Draft Horse is the work of Anne Saxton, the marketing and events coordinator behind the Kim Bartmann restaurant empire, and the menus look to draw from the same locavore ethos.
The restaurant, also a bar and deli, will feature ingredients from its building-mates The Lone Grazer Creamery and Red Table Meat Co., along with many other notable suppliers including Peterson Limousin Beef, Fischer Family Farms, and The Beez Kneez.
The debut menus look wonderful for winter, lots of roasted meats and vegetables, along with meat and cheese plates and a pot pie section(!). Grab & go sandwiches on Patisserie 46 baguettes will also be available.
About the name: The Food Building was occupied by the Dick Veterinary Clinic from 1909-1922 and specialized in the care of horses.
