The Happy Gnome was named the Best Beer Bar in Minnesota by readers of CraftBeer.com in 2015
Late last year, the Brewers Association’s CraftBeer.com set out to find the best beer bars in every state and Washington, D.C.
They enlisted their thousands of readers to nominate their favorite craft beer bar, and fill out a survey about what makes it special: atmosphere, staff, beer selection, special events.
Over 9,000 votes were cast from August to December 2015, and The Happy Gnome, in St. Paul, came out tops for Minnesota.
Here’s the write-up for the 89-tap beer haven tucked into Cathedral Hill:
“The Happy Gnome tap list is exclusively domestic craft and quality import, rotating through seasonal selections and maintaining some favorites. Promoting craft beer is also fun: every month we feature a different brewery, hosting a beer dinner where the brewer comes out and explains their beers in detail while our chef creates a pairing for each course.
“Our building was one of the first firehouses in Saint Paul. In addition to the bar, we also have a banquet space on the second floor and a 100-seat patio. Patrons really enjoy our annual Firkin Fest, which features over 60 cask ales.”
