Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild‘s annual Winterfest returned to St. Paul’s Union Depot Saturday night for a sophisticated evening of beer drinking.
In a new format this year, local restaurants were paired up with a group of Minnesota breweries, and brought one standout dish to complement their partners’ beer. Minnesota BBQ Company carved up some seriously smoky ribs, Pajarito wowed with an octopus terrine, and Curious Goat won raves for their spot-on tostada.
Several awards were given out at the end of the night. Barrel Theory Beer Company won Best Beer for “Threat Level Midnight,” and Surly Brewing and Town Hall Brewery tied for best Brewery/Food Pairing.
While the event has always brought out the best in terms of beer from breweries, this year’s “Best Dressed” award also invited them to break out their best duds. Though plenty were dressed to the nines, it was Dangerous Man that took home the award with their crew’s coordinated gold ensembles.
In between beer samples, The Growler sought out some of the best dressed festival-goers and brewers.
