Minneapolis’ North Loop, the warehouse district budding with young professionals, independent retail shops, and buzzing restaurants, will soon be saying hello to two new establishments this September: NOLO’s Kitchen & Bar and The Basement Bar.
Transforming the historic Gardner Hardware Building at 515 Washington Avenue North, the team consisting of Marty Collins from McCoy’s Public House, Brett Johnson from The Hilltop Restaurant, and chef Peter Hoff will be bringing their industry and culinary experience to the projects.
NOLO’s Kitchen & Bar will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a comfort food focus—think biscuits and gravy, shaved pork sandwiches, and wood oven flatbreads—and will showcase local ingredients.
The Basement Bar is an “indoor food truck concept”—a casual locale to grab drinks and quick bites to eat for under $12. The Basement Bar will open at 4pm on weekdays and 11am on the weekends, gearing toward “fun at any hour,” such as live music, a shuffleboard table, and bubble hockey.
