Have you ever wondered what it would be like to quit your job, move to northern Minnesota, and live off the grid in a tent in the woods? That is precisely what novelist Daniel J. Rice did to write his first novel, This Side of a Wilderness, which follows the story of Eli Sylvan as he “travels from the untamed mountains of Wyoming, to the wild forests of northern Minnesota […] to free himself from the constricts of society, and experience a life closer to nature.”

In the spirit of the northern Minnesota tie, Bemidji Brewing and Riverfeet Press are holding a release party for the novel and are offering a free beer with the purchase of the book. The event runs from 4-7pm on December 6 at the Bemidji Brewing Company taproom. Visit bemidjibeer.com for more event details. Visit the author’s webpage for more information on This Side of a Wilderness.
