Now that Colossal Cafe has opened their new digs on 38th Street, people may be wondering what’s in store for its original space at 1839 East 42nd Street. On Wednesday afternoon, Colossal Cafe’s owners, Carrie, John and Elizabeth Tinucci, announced the new concept for the old location—it’s The Original on 42nd.

The sandwich shop will be helmed by chefs Stephanie Kochlin (former chef de cuisine at Heartland and head chef at Pig & Fiddle) and Andrew Lilja (who headed the late dinner service at Colossal in Como.)

“We are thrilled to open The Original soon,” Kochlin said in a press release. “The Original is going to be a friendly, neighborhood place offering classic sandwiches, made with a unique twist. Some will be quirky, and everything will be delicious.”
