A weekend trip to Chicago’s Lollapalooza each summer is an annual tradition for indie rock fans from across the Midwest and beyond. This three-day festival is jam packed with local talents, regional up-and-comers, and international powerhouses playing on eight stages around Grant Park in downtown.
While many summer music festival compete with the level of talent performing, Lollapalooza’s beautiful views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan take it to the next level. This year’s festival is as eclectic as ever, featuring headliners Paul McCartney, Metallica, Florence + the Machine, Sam Smith, and Bassnectar. Some other bands not to miss are Tame Impala, alt-J, Alabama Shakes, and and TV on the Radio. Plus, bands with intriguing names like Black Tiger Sex Machine and Mista Cookie Jar & the Chocolate Chips.

WE Fest || Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
August 6–8
For a few days each summer Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, becomes Mecca for country music fans. Since its inception in 1983, thousands upon thousands of fans have donned their leather boots and big hats, and flocked to the small rural town to see the top acts in country. The Country Music Association has twice nominated the festival for its prestigious Best Special Event award, solidifying its status as a top-tier country music festival in the nation. This year’s festival boasts a lineup featuring headliners Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Rascal Flatts.

Summer Set Music & Camping Festival || Somerset, Wisconsin

An eclectic mash-up of the top DJs, hip hop artists, and indie rock bands, Summer Set Music & Camping Festival draws an equally unique cross section of music fans.
