Surly Brewing Company Release Asator Viking IPA

Surly Asator Viking IPA

What do you get when you combine Minnesota’s brutally cold weather with the three brutal metal bands Amon Amarth, Enslaved, and Skeletonwitch?

The answer is none other than Surly Brewing Company’s Asator Viking IPA. On Saturday February 8th when these storms collide at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis for the Deceiver of the Gods North American tour, you’ll be the first taste this strong beer, brewed specifically for the show. This IPA is named after an Amon Amarth song title and will be poured first at the concert, and for a very limited time at the brewery’s Taproom starting Wednesday, February 12th.

Surly is sponsoring the show and headbanger/head brewer Todd Haug decided to provide an extra-special welcome for the bands, and concert goers, with their very metal offering. “The Surly production team is fueled by metal,” Haug says in Decibel Metal Magazine’s post, “so what better way to honor three of our favorite bands who have braved the winter to perform for Minnesota.”

Asator Viking IPA is a strong beer fermented on oak with a ruddy brown color. Described as an ale brewed with peated, brown, and crystal malts with a strong hop forward ending, this beer will definitely get you Surly and ready to join the pit.
