Rick Nelson at the Star Tribune is reporting that Surly Brewing plans to close its fine dining concept, Brewer’s Table, on August 5. The restaurant won several plaudits in its two years, including a spot among Food & Wine Magazine’s 10 Best New Restaurants in the country for 2016.
Surly’s owner, Omar Ansari, cited financial considerations, as well as the logistics of operating a fine dining restaurant above one of the largest and most crowded beer halls in the state.
Chef Jorge Guzman, a 2017 James Beard Award finalist for his work at Brewer’s Table, says he will stay in the Twin Cities and work on his own concept.
