With over 170 breweries now pouring their beer in Minnesota, there’s always something new to try. To keep you up to date, we present The Mash-Up—our weekly rundown of new beers and seasonal releases in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. Visit every Friday for the latest or sign up for a weekly email.

It’s a big week in Minnesota beer. Winterfest is tonight, a Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild-sponsored festival that showcases the local brew and food scenes. Across the state, other celebrations are taking place too. In St. Paul, Dual Citizen marks their first year of business; across the river in Minneapolis, Day Block celebrate five years; and in Bemidji, the brewery’s annual Tropical Escape Week shows that Minnesotans don’t need the sun to have fun.

In other exciting news, Modist and Rise Bagel Co. have a collaboration that debuts this Saturday that uses leftover bagels, a variant of Indeed Rum King hit the market in limited supply, and for those less interested in dark, rich beers, there are multiple new keller Pilsners out too.

Each week, The Growler’s editorial team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers hitting taps and store shelves that we’re most excited to try.

Boom Island Bicycle Thief (Minneapolis)

This new white IPA is a collaboration between Boom Island’s Kevin Welch and three homebrewers—the winner of Boom Days 2018’s Home Brew contest. “Bicycle Thief is a delicious white IPA with hints of sweet orange peel and coriander, with a locally sourced honey and Belgian farmhouse yeast strain,” the brewery says. 6% ABV, 38 IBU.

Little Thistle Dad Bod (Rochester)

This is an imperial Scotch ale with rich, malty flavors of toffee, subtle caramel, and chocolate, the brewery says, plus a raisin-like fruitiness. 10% ABV, 15 IBU and brewed in collaboration with Forager Brewery.

Day Block Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout (Minneapolis)

Day Block celebrates its fifth anniversary tonight and has a new Russian imperial stout available for the occasion. This anniversary beer was aged for two years and is available on tap at the brewpub and also in limited bottles.

Modist No Bagel Wasted (Minneapolis)

Modist teamed up with Rise Bagel Co. to repurpose extra bagels. More than 150 pounds went into this beer, along with white clover honey, to create “a toasty, easy-drinking lager” that taps this Saturday, January 26.
