With over 170 breweries now pouring their beer in Minnesota, there’s always something new to try. To keep you up to date, we present The Mash-Up—our weekly rundown of new beers and seasonal releases in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. Visit growlermag.com every Friday for the latest or sign up for a weekly email.

Dark beers define the new releases at many establishments this week, including seven special releases at FINNEGANS, and barrel-aged specialties from the likes of Lift Bridge, Tin Whiskers, Inbound, and more. In St. Paul, Bad Weather are joining the long-running Winter Carnival tradition with the release of their Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt dark cream ale.

It’s not all dark beers and cold thoughts, though. Several breweries are fighting the winter blues with boozy triple IPAs, and others are offering summer-minded lineups that feature crisp Pilsners, fruity session sours, and tropical coconut.

Each week, The Growler’s editorial team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers hitting taps and store shelves that we’re most excited to try.

Bad Weather Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt (St. Paul)

Bad Weather has teamed up with the Pioneer Press for an official beer for Winter Carnival 2019. Tapping at the brewery during a special release party on Saturday January 19, the cans of this dark cream ale feature art by frequent Growler contributor DWITT.

Available today, the brewery describes this traditional Kellerbier/Zwickelbier as having “notes of white wine, stone fruits, and herbal spice all rounded out by an earthy and malty rye finish.” 5.0% ABV, 30 IBU.
