With over 170 breweries now pouring their beer in Minnesota, there’s always something new to try. To keep you up to date, we present The Mash-Up—our weekly rundown of new beers and seasonal releases in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. Visit growlermag.com every Friday for the latest or sign up for a weekly email.

It’s the conclusion of Holy Week, and while many breweries will close for Easter observation on Sunday, that doesn’t mean the beer production has slowed. Many breweries will release dank IPAs and a hemp beer to mark 4/20 tomorrow, and the list below features a wide range of styles from traditional hefeweizens and roggenbier to new pale ales showing off the new Idaho Gem hop variety.

Lost Sanity celebrated anniversary number one last weekend, Inbound’s Minneapolis taproom celebrates its third this Saturday, and Wild State is now pouring cider in Duluth. In St. Paul, Tin Whiskers has once again teamed up with Pearson’s Candy Co. to replicate a candy bar in a glass, this time in the form of Salted Nut Roll Ale.

Each week, The Growler’s editorial team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers hitting taps and store shelves that we’re most excited to try.

Bemidji Brewing Vertical Pale Ale (Bemidji)

“This refreshing pale ale features local malt from our friends at Vertical Malt in Fischer, MN. We’ve paired their delicious malts exclusively with Mosaic hops, resulting in a fun beer that strikes the perfect balance between hop and malt presence.  Aromas of peach and orange overlap with a dry, toasty finish,” the brewery says. 5.5% ABV, 40 IBU.

Dangerous Man Dangerous ONE (Minneapolis)

This 5% ABV session pale was double dry-hopped and tapped on Thursday. It’s also the first collaboration beer made with ONE Fermentary & Taproom, who plan to open in late 2019 in the North Loop.

Hoops #5051 Dunkel (Duluth)

A criminally underrepresented style, this 5.2% ABV, 15 IBU German-style dunkelweizen has all the great flavors of a hefeweizen along with slight chocolate and molasses notes. On tap now at the Canal Park brewery.

Town Hall Hop Ryeval (Minneapolis)

“This heavily hopped American Pale Ale is brewed with American malted rye for added floral, fruity spice to this citrus and stone-fruit, hop-forward spring seasonal. Low in alcohol, light in bitterness, high in hop goodness,” the brewery says.

Fitger’s Brewhouse Homegrown Hempen Ale (Duluth)

A dry-hopped, dry-hemped dank and amber ale made with Mighty Axe-grown hops is back for 2019 in preparation for Duluth’s Homegrown Music Festival. 6.1% ABV.
