With over 170 breweries now pouring their beer in Minnesota, there’s always something new to try. To keep you up to date, we present The Mash-Up—our weekly rundown of new beers and seasonal releases in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. Visit growlermag.com every Friday for the latest or sign up for a weekly email.

Doppelbocks and session beers are the big themes this week. A week after the annual Schell’s Bock Fest, Spilled Grain and Steel Toe host their own spring bock-minded events. Elsewhere, many breweries have special releases to celebrate International Women’s Day, and session beers and radlers are on the menu (or coming soon) at Bauhaus, Utepils, Indeed, Roundhouse, and via a unique collaboration from AEGIR.

While many beers are thinking seasonally, it was also Big Beer Week at Lupulin, which released several high ABV offerings that range in style from IPAs to Russian imperial stouts.

Each week, The Growler’s editorial team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers hitting taps and store shelves that we’re most excited to try.

ENKI Raspberry Bomb Saison (Victoria)

Made in collaboration with Waconia Brewing, this is a raspberry French saison that releases on International Women’s Day, March 8. ENKI brewer Kendra Gephart and Amy Shishilla from Waconia Brewing created Raspberry Bomb Saison using a blend of hops developed by the members of Pink Boots Society. The special hops blend is part of Pink Boots Society’s Collaboration Brew Day to promote gender balance in the brewing industry. ENKI Brewing is donating a portion of proceeds from RBS to the Pink Boots Society to support educational scholarships for women in the brewing industry.

Dangerous Man Farmhouse Ale (Minneapolis)

This new beer was tapped on Wednesday in honor of International Women’s Day. “A beer designed, brewed, and packaged by ladies,” says the brewery, this saison is made with Pils malt, malted oats, and red wheat that form the backbone, alongside gentle hopping and dry hopping with the Pink Boots Society 2019 hop blend. “But the show is stolen by the expressive French yeast,” they say.

Inbound Chai Milk Stout (Minneapolis)

On tap today, this beer honors International Women’s Day and will also raise funds for nonprofit Dress For Success. Inbound is donating $1 of every pint (not just of Chai Milk Stout) sold all day to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Modist Has that line ever worked for you before?! (Minneapolis)

On tap today, this is a Modist first: a 0 IBU hazy IPA. One dollar of each pint sold will go to Pink Boots Society to support their effort to aid women in the beer industry, and another dollar of each pint sold will be donated to And Now She Rises, a local non-profit that provides resources to domestic abuse shelters.

Urban Growler California Common (St. Paul)

Minnesota’s first all-women-owned brewery is bringing back its California Common. At 5.3% ABV, 33 IBU, Urban Growler says, “Sweet caramel malts are balanced by the woody, herbal notes of the traditional Northern Brewer hops.”
