To keep you up-to-date, we present The Mash-Up—our weekly rundown of new beers and seasonal releases in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. As the days get brighter, so too do the beers. Kölsch-style ales, Berliner weiss, golden ales, and lighter pale ales dominate the new beers available this week. Summer events are also revving up, with Cider Week coming to a close, Homebrew Con coming to town next week, Tin Whiskers turning three on Saturday, and the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest taking over the State Fairgrounds.

- Belgian Pale Ale – The soon-to-open brewery in Lowertown St. Paul’s Pioneer Endicott building served their first pints at Music in Mears last night.
Bad Weather Brewing Company
- Mojito – Not every beer on the list is beer. Bad Weather just released a cocktail inspired non-alcoholic soda available at their taproom.
Badger Hill Brewing
- High Road Blond with Prickly Pear – The taproom’s weekly infusion keg, tapped on Wednesday.
Bent Paddle Brewing Co.
- Tea Time Blonde – Every Pizza Luce location is pouring this exclusive collab with Bent Paddle. “We’ve infused our Paddle Break Blonde with Tea Leaves and Lemon Zest to go alongside their newest pizza creation,” says the brewery, noting it has similarities to an Arnold Palmer.
Copper Trail Brewing Co.
- Citra Solstice – “The citra hop is in the driver seat of aroma and flavor, contributing tropical and citrus fruit character that is guaranteed to please any crowd,” says the brewery. Available on draft at the taproom. 6.0% ABV, 41 IBU.
Dangerous Man Brewing Company
- Blueberry Milkshake IPA – Brewed with 350 pounds of blueberries, vanilla beans, lactose, and Citra & Mosaic hops.
- Dry-Hopped Golden Ale – Notes of lemongrass, bright citrus and shortcake, according to the brewery website.
- Hallerado Pale Ale – A pale ale described by Dangerous Man as, “Fresh lemon zest, mild herbal spiciness, and a pleasantly pine-like hop bitterness.” 5.4% ABV, 37 IBU.
- Sour Delores with Tea – Made with rooibos and strawberry tea, a soft beer with mild tartness.
Day Block Brewing Company
- Berliner Weisse – A tart and refreshing kettle sour. “Brewers often add sweetened syrups, we have several to choose from, but our Berliner Weisse is excellent on its own as well,” notes Day Block. 5.2% ABV, 3 IBU.
- Coffee Kölsch – Out today, this beer has a fruity yeast profile, cracker-like malt flavors and a rush of cold press coffee. 6.0% ABV, 18 IBU.
Excelsior Brewing Company
- Ginger Peach Sour – A kettle sour with tart peach up front and spicy ginger at the finish. 4.2% ABV, 5 IBU.
- Portside Pilsner – Available until November, this light-bodied beer pours at 5.6% ABV, 35 IBU.
Fulton Brewing
- Pils – A new year-round beer from Fulton, sold in six-packs and on draft. “It features a smooth, well-rounded bitterness provided by German Perle, and a pleasantly floral aroma provided by the style’s hallmark Saaz hops,” Fulton says. 5.3% ABV, 30 IBU. It’s pushing The Ringer out of the year-round lineup and into taproom rotation.
Indeed Brewing Company
- Peach Bum IPA – Indeed added peach juice to this tropical IPA, available now through October.
LynLake Brewery
- Sensei-ble Double IPA – The Uptown Minneapolis brewery released this new double IPA Thursday. Made with Mosaic, Citra, and Rakau hops, it has a “tropical citrus aroma that makes way for a mouthful of fluffy malty-goodness,” according to the brewery. 8.1% ABV.
Nutmeg Brewhouse
- Screaming Eagle – Nutmeg Brewhouse Burnsville tapped a new beer called Screaming Eagle on Monday in honor of “I Love Burnsville” week. Available for a limited time at the Burnsville location.
OMNI Brewing
- Pineapple, three pepper Hopfull IPA – This week’s Infuseday Tuesday release, OMNI tapped a firkin of their Hopfull IPA infused with pineapple and three different kinds of peppers.
Sociable Cider Werks
- Barrel Aged Freewheeler – Cider Week means big things, like this barrel aged, bottled Freewheeler at Sociable, aged for six months in sauvignon blanc barrels.
Surly Brewing Company
- Eleven – Has it really been 11 years? Surly describes this year’s offering as “A blend between a Belgian quad and a German wheat beer (the latter fermented with 100 percent Brettanomyces).” 10% ABV in 750-milliliter bottles.
Tin Whiskers Brewing Company
The Lowertown St. Paul Brewery celebrates its third anniversary party on Saturday, June 10 from noon–11pm. Among their special releases that day:
- Phase Shift 01: Tequila Barrel Aged Watts Wheat Wine – The 2017 version will be available in 750-milliliter bottles and on tap at noon (along with a very limited number of the 2016 version).
- Daisy Chain Saison – A cask of their summer saison will be tapped at 4 pm.
- Double Dry-Hopped Circuit Breaker Double IPA with Calypso & Denali hops – taps at 6pm.
- Dynamo Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout – available at 8pm on June 10 at the taproom.
Urban Growler Brewing
- Grodziskie – Released at Urban Growler’s 3rd Annual Polish Heritage Party on June 7, this traditional Polish beer is brewed with oak-smoked wheat malt. Light and crisp with a distinctive smokiness.
- Kölsch Style – A refreshing beer that has the crispness of a lager and the light fruitiness of an ale. On tap June 8.
Waconia Brewing Company
- Single Hop IPA with Nelson Sauvin – To be released June 10.

- Polonaise – Return of the pale ale. Available at the taproom.
Bad Weather Brewing Company
- Firefly Rye – Bad Weather’s summer season rye is back in cans and on draft for 2017.
Bauhaus Brew Labs
- Hairbanger – A Belgo-Style American Pale Ale. Toasty malts, Belgian yeast and tropical American hops make up this seasonal return. Available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and on draft. 5.5% ABV, 50 IBU.
Bent Paddle Brewing
- Lollygagger – Bent Paddle’s staple pale ale is on its last run before a fall retirement. Available in limited six-packs.
Canal Park Brewing Company
- 40 Acre Saison – The Duluth brewpub tapped their summer seasonal, 40 Acre Saison, on Wednesday. With notes of citrus (mostly orange) and pepper, this saison has a characteristically medium light body with a somewhat soft velvety dry finish, according to the brewery. 6.7% ABV, 32 IBU
Hayes’ Public House
- Queen Hannah ESB – Returning on Thursday, this 5.4% ABV, 40 IBU ale is Hayes’ take on the classic English style.
LynLake Brewery
- Heffin’ A Hefeweizen – The Uptown Minneapolis brewery’s hefeweizen returned Thursday. Heffin’ A is “an unfiltered Hefeweizen with prominent banana and pear characteristics, balanced by clove undertones,” says the brewery.

- Rah Rah Oh La La (A Beer Romance) – More Lady Gaga themed beers were announced this week for the June 23 Beer Dabbler at Twin Cities Pride, including this strawberry cream ale.
Barley John’s Brewing Company
- Perfect Ale-Lusion – It’s a Little Barley with raspberry, available at the Pride Dabbler.
Bent Brewstillery
- Cheek to Cheek – This passion fruit malt mead with green chili will be served at Pride Dabbler this year.
Bent Paddle Brewing Co.
- Lovegrain – A play on Lady Gaga’s “Lovegame,” available June 23 at Pride Dabbler.
Boom Island Brewing Company
- Starstruck – Boom Island made a unique citrus saison with starfruit for Pride Dabbler.
Boulevard Brewing Co.
- Love Child #8 – No. 8 in this series of wild beers from Boulevard is a Flanders-style red ale blended with a sour Belgian-style golden. “This release features soft lactic acidity punctuated with slight acetic notes and a tart, fruity flavor reminiscent of sour cherries and green strawberries.,” the brewery says. 9.0% ABV, 9 IBU.
Clockwerks Brewing
- Hop Blast Wonder – Here comes Clockwerks’ second guest homebrew tap, a triple dry-hopped double IPA. Debuting on June 17 with day-long $5 pints to celebrate.
Finnegans
- Sinner’s Prayer – An IPA available June 23 at Pride Dabbler.
Founders Brewing Co.
- DKML – After several years and multiple trial batches, Founders announced it will release its bourbon barrel–aged imperial malt liquor, DKML, at the taproom on July 1 and throughout its distribution network later in July. The malt liquor, brewed with corn and lager yeast cultivated by Spanish brewer Mahou San Miguel, shows a smooth sweetness with vanilla tones and light fruitiness.
Fulton Brewing
- Culture Project #3 – Coming sometime late this year, according to a brewery newsletter.
- Heavy Kettle Lover – A kettle sour for the Pride Dabbler on June 23.
- Tananger – Fulton’s Brett IPA will be available in bottles later this year. Date TBA.
HeadFlyer Brewing
- Goody Goody Gose – New from Northeast’s second-newest brewery. Available on June 23 at Pride Dabbler.
Inbound BrewCo
- Perverse Hue MN – Kolsch-style ale, with extra zip via a Pop Rocks infusion. Available at Pride Dabbler later this month.
Junkyard Brewing Company
- Barrel Aged King Size – No date announcement, but Junkyard’s imperial peanut stout was recently put in some Jack Daniels barrels.
Maui Brewing Company
The Hawaiian brewery expands into Minnesota, beginning next week.

- Blood Orange Lorenzini Double India Pale Ale – “Brewed with local fruit and blood orange juice, this beer has a heavy citrus and hop aroma and balanced flavor. It is a deceptively drinkable Double IPA at 8.0% ABV and 85 IBUs,” according to the brewery.
- Mango Hefeweizen – Available in late June, this uses Hawaii-grown mangos. 5.5% ABV, 13 IBU.
Pryes Brewing Co.
- Blonde – It’s not a Miraculum, it’s a new beer that will debut when Pryes opens their taproom on June 17.
- Hibiscus Orange Sour – Available on June 23 at Pride Dabbler.
Sociable Cider Werks
- Guava Training Wheels – For Pride Dabbler, this is an unfiltered cider with hops and guava.
Summit Brewing Company
- Lazy Slipper – The results are in. Summit will serve a Kölsch-style ale named after the Minnesota state flower at this year’s State Fair. It will be a sessionable ale made with strawberry and all Minnesota ingredients.
Talking Waters Brewing Company
- Zoomer Red Ale – The brewery is bringing its original version of the West Coast–style red ale back to taps this summer. Zoomer showcases resinous American hops from the Pacific Northwest and toasty malts with caramel, biscuit, and toffee flavors. Available this summer. 6.8% ABV, 64 IBU.
Tanzenwald Brewing Company
- Funky Dunk – Northfield’s Tanzenwald announced that this sour ale is “coming soon.”
- Smithereen – The brewery also has a New England style IPA in development.
Tin Whiskers Brewing Company
- Brew-Off Rematch! – On June 21, Tin Whiskers and Urban Growler will each introduce unique beers using rhubarb, honey, and an unannounced ingredient selected by the team at The Happy Gnome.
- Hibiscus Wit – Next in the Fourier Series.
- IPA– The Fourier Series will also be featuring a new IPA from the 3-year old brewery. “Ingredients courtesy of Country Malt Group to be featured at the upcoming Homebrew Con,” the brewery says.
Urban Growler Brewing
- Brew-Off Rematch! – On June 21, Tin Whiskers and Urban Growler will each introduce unique beers using rhubarb, honey, and an unannounced ingredient selected by the team at The Happy Gnome.
- Gage for Grigio – A summer ale for Pride Dabbler.
- Hayloft Series Plow to Pint Honey IPA – Brewed annually to celebrate the spring season and busy bees, this year’s West Coast-style IPA has Minnesota-harvested wildflower honey from the Bare Honey Company. Buzzing with a myriad of flavors from the El Dorado and Amarillo hops, this beer finishes sweet with citrusy hints of orange rind and honey. Release date TBA.
