The Mill has a second wind. It’s all of a sudden August, i.e., time to double-down on summer. We’re keeping the grill fired up and targeting each patio we’ve neglected so far. Be sure to pick up a copy of Growler Issue 14 on stands now. Have any inside beer info? Tweet me @johnpgarland.

Head over to Tapper’s Pub on Thursday from 7-10pm to chat with the Tin Whiskers crew and sample a limited release of Parity Pilsner.

It’s wine time at Social Science this Thursday.

Apparently this Thursday is also national IPA day. You know, as opposed to the other 364 days of the year.

RSVP for Pickin’ & Grinnin’ at Lift Bridge Brewing on Saturday, September 6th. Help pick some hops for their Harvestor Fresh Hop Ale, and enjoy live music and food trucks while you do.

Here are this week’s chances to taste the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp brews, primarily, the New Glarus collaboration, There & Back. And read Deadspin’s attempt to rank the 12 Beer Camp releases.

The owners of El Bait Shop are reportedly planning an Iowan Craft Beer Hall in downtown Des Moines.

Craft beer production is up 18% from the mid-point of 2013, and that’s as shipments of all beer nationwide are down slightly over last year.

China’s beer consumption is twice that of the U.S. What are their favorite brands?

And, ICYMI, Castle Danger‘s taproom will open August 15th.

Looks like there’s a firkin of Bad Weather Brewing Firefly Rye on grapefruit at Black Sheep Pizza in St. Paul today.
