The Mill: Tandem Brewing and UV Resistance

The Mill, July 8 2014

Daniel Murphy // Growler Magazine

The Mill is running a little slow this week. We’re still a little groggy from the all the sun, brats and brews over the holiday weekend. But we have good things to look forward to: Sisyphus opening, breweries collaborating, and one of our favorite festivals is just around the corner. Do you have any beer news of note? Let us know: [email protected]

Collaboration:

Tandem brewing alert: Summit and Bang were brewing together recently. What’s that all about? Preparation for a collaboration brewing fest – where four teams of local brewers will debut a joint-effort beer at the Red Stag Supperclub’s annual block party, Sunday, August 3rd. We’ll have much more on the site in the next few weeks. For now, just imagine the tantalizing suds these teams are brewing up:

– August Schell Brewing and Sociable Cider Werks (some kind of smoked apple concoction, apparently)
– Bang Brewing and Summit Brewing
– Bent Paddle Brewing and Fitger’s Brewhouse
– Fulton Beer and Dangerous Man Brewing

Other News:

Last Sunday was the first fully legal Sunday for all Minneapolis brewery taprooms to operate. 612Brew is already in the spirit. Boom Island announced Sunday hours for the rest of July.

Item to file under “Possibly from The Onion”: A kickstarter has gone live to produce a UV-resistant pint glass (helpful diagram, above). The Bru-V glass is tinted to prevent the beer from skunking in the ten minutes before you drink it.

Narragansett Beer announced they’ll be bringing back their retro can look in celebration of the 39th anniversary of JawsThe cans will help support shark conservation efforts.
