Trampled By Turtles bring Festival Palomino to Canterbury Park

Festival Palomino

Minnesota bluegrass giants Trampled By Turtles announced today that they are organizing the Festival Palomino, an all-ages music festival, at Canterbury Park on September 20, 2014. The band curated the music lineup, which includes The Head & The Heart, fellow Duluth-rockers Low, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Field ReportSpirit Family Reunion, and Erik Koskinen. The bands will perform on two stages on the infield of the racetrack and the festival will also feature a craft beer garden, food trucks, and an artist village.

Trampled By Turtles have built quite a following since their start in Duluth back in 2003, touring across the country and performing on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2012. Last June, Trampled By Turtles joined Minnesota hip-hop group Atmosphere at Bayfront Park in Duluth for a unique mash up of genres. The bluegrass band and indie rap group do have something in common—both were propelled into the statewide spotlight with airplay on 89.3 The Current, radio sponsor of Festival Palomino. The two will be playing the same venue this year—though not on the same day—as Canterbury Park hosts Soundset 2014 on May 25.

Tickets for Festival Palomino go on sale April 11 to the general public, but are on sale today for a discounted rate during The Current Presale until 10pm. On Friday General Admission tickets will be $37 (children under 10 years old are free if accompanied by two paying adults), while special, limited VIP ticket packages including exclusive VIP parking, separate VIP entrance to the festival grounds, access to a special exclusive VIP area near the main stage, shaded tent chill area, separate VIP restrooms, and VIP full bar with adult beverages, is on sale for $90.
